Role Description

The Pensions Technical Lead will be required to:

  • Lead and mentor other technical specialists in the actuarial and regulatory technical job family including nurturing and encouraging the professional development of junior staff.
  • Develop the business strategy with peers in the senior leadership team.
  • Review work carried out by other technical specialists ensuring standards and common practices are adhered to.
  • Plan work for your team of technical specialists with project managers – this work will cover multiple pro
  • Provide the detail for our clients, developers, testers, and external partners to ensure projects have the detailed requirements, proformas and calculations needed to start and maintain these requirements as they change through the software development cycle by:
    • Documenting requirements, validate functional specifications and proformas, draft testing approach plans and user acceptance test cases
    • Documenting calculation processes to an agreed format
  • Own and deliver technical analysis team targets as directed by COO
  • Assist the sales and client management teams as required

Essential Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience as a Pensions Specialist
  • Expert knowledge of Pension schemes, (DB, DC, CARE and hybrid schemes) including service and benefit calculations.
  • Expert knowledge of the Pensions Regulatory environment and detail regarding topics such as GMPE, PIE, Buy-in/Buy-out etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and VBA skills
  • Experience using SQL Databases
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Management of Actuarial and Technical teams
  • Ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders

Desirable skills and experience

  • Management experience of up to 12 people
  • Pensions experience
  • Strong technical ability

  • Explain technical acronyms and jargon in plain English

Certifications Required

Diploma in Pensions Administration (PMI) and/or a minimum of 12yrs relevant experience
